A - Clubhouse has not been built yet.

B - Bobby Jones told head professional George Jacobus that this bunker that no longer exists was the inspiration for the front bunker on #10 at Augusta National Golf Club.

C - Note the continuous bunkers around the left side of 3E green.  This is a common theme in this picture.

D - One large bunker right of 7E green.  Later this will become two bunkers and later on one sand bunker and one grass bunker.

E - The clock has not been built yet.

F - The two bunkers right of 1C green were a single bunker in 1931.

G - Note the width of the fairway past the fairway bunker on 7C.

H - Note the single snake-like bunker wrapping from the front of the green, down the right side and then to the back of 8C green.  This was partially restored in 2005.

I - Note the size and lack of trees along 1W and 9W.

J - The greenside bunkers wrapped around the entire front approach of 2W green.

K - Note the single fairway bunker connecting 4W and 5W fairways.  We believe this was eliminated early on  for drainage reasons.  This area often floods and the lowest area on West runs right through the middle of this old bunker.

L - Note the solitary front bunker in front of 6W green.  Today, there are two.

M - Saddle River Golf Club, now Paramus Golf Club.

1953

A - Pool has been built.

B - Pond between 1E and 9E has been built by Robert Trent Jones.  Fill used to renovate 1E, 1C & 9E green complexes.

C - Note pond in front of 3E tee.  There is also a small one not in view at the back left of 2E green.

D - Note how 3E fairway curls around the mounds on the left.  This was partially restored in 2007.

E - 3E green complex has been completely renovated by Tillinghast.

F - Note the fairway width on 7E.

G - 9E green complex has been completely renovated and the front bunker removed.

H - Note fairway width by 1C green and how it goes around the right hand bunkers.  The right bunker has been separated into two bunkers.

I - Note the fairway width on 2C.  It is almost touch 7C.

J - Note the fairway bunker that no longer exists.

K - Note how the fairway on 6C extends closer to the tee.

L - The hill at 6C is beginning to fill in with trees.  It is nearly bare in the 1931 picture.

M - Note the fairway width and how close to the green it gets on the right side.

N - The trees are beginning to fill in along 1W and 9W.

O - Note that openings for traffic have been created on wrap around bunkers at 2W and 6W greens.

P - The once connected fairway bunkers at 4W and 5W have been separated.

Q - Note how far the green extends toward the tee compared to today.

1966

A - Small pond in front of 3E tee has been removed.

B - Woods left of 7E is beginning to fill in.

C - Single bunker right of 7E green has been separated into two bunkers.

D - Turf nursery has been installed right of 1C.

E - Capes and bays on most bunkers throughout the course have been edged and/or worn away since the 1953 picture.

F - Depth of 4W green has been reduced in the front.

G - Fairways widths are narrowing.  Note how much closer 4W and 5W fairways are to the path in the 1953 picture.

H - The fairway width is pulling away from the bunker since the 1953 picture.

I - The range field has been expanded.

J - Orchard Hills Golf Club

K - Note the development along Rt. 17 since the 1953 photo.

1979

A - Tennis and paddle courts have been added.

B - Dozens of white pines were added throughout the course in 1976 and 1977.

C - New equipment building at Greens and Grounds has been built.

D - New back tee at 8C.

E - New back tee at 4W.

F - 4W green has retracted even further since the 1966 and 1953 photos.

G - New ladies tee at 8W has been built.

H - Fairway bunker once in the fairway at 8W is now in the rough.

I - First signs of the dump along 8W.

J - Bergen Community College has replaced 9 holes at Orchard Hills Golf Club.

1987

A - 1C fairway has been split in two near fairway bunker.

B - Fairway widths narrowing at 2C.

C - Pesticide building added at Greens & Grounds.

D - Back tee to 586 yards added at 4W.

E - Back tee to 420 yards added at 7W.

1995

A - Ponds at 1C and 1E now have fountains.

B - New targets on the range field.

C - Range tee rebuilt after 1990 U.S. Senior Open.

2002

A - New ladies tee at 1E.

B - New back tee at 2E.

C - Green covers protecting newly seeded turf after anthracnose outbreak on 2E, 2C, 4C, 6C, 8C, 1W, 9W.

D - Tree removal around 2E and 8E greens.

E - Tree removal around 4E green.

F - Removal of all birch trees between 6E and 7E.

G - Tree removal to the back left of 9E green.

H - Tree removal around 1C green.

I - Tree removal around 2C green.

J - Tree removal around 3C green.

K - Tree removal around 6C green.

L - Tree removal around 7C green.

G - Fairway bunker moved down range 30 yards at 5E.

H - New ladies tee at 6E.

I - New ladies tee at 8E.

J - Tree removal left of 9E green.

K - New back tee at 1C, 388 yards.

L - Pond expanded towards green.

M - Fairways reattached after being separated for years.

N - New ladies tee at 4C.

O - Tree Removal right of 5C green.

P - Small lost bunker reconstructed into right side of 6C green complex.

Q - Fairway bunker moved down range 30 yards at 7C.

R - New equipment maintenance facility constructed in 2005.

T - Despite several removals for sunlight and playability, compare the trees along 1W and 9W in 2006 to the 1931 photo.

U - New ladies tee at 2W.
